Looking for sustainable gifts for your family this Christmas? Christmas doesn’t need to be a time of unnecessary packaging and general materialistic nonsense. So, if you’re wanting to get environmentally conscious gifts this year, we’ve some ideas for you here!
What to get Dad? An age-old question normally answered with the word, “Socks”. Well not this year! How about a 100% plastic free safety razor built to last, paired with an orange and lavender shaving bar. Re-usable razors sold on the high street are a complex mix of plastic, metal and rubber and can therefore not be recycled. In the UK alone millions are thrown away annually.
Another idea for Dad, these cork belts and wallets make a sustainable alternative to leather.
Have you got an environmentally conscious 20-something in the family? Well if they got a bamboo toothbrush last year, how about getting packaging free toothpaste to go with it this year? 1.5 billion toothpaste tubes are thrown away annually across the globe. Toothpaste tubes are extremely difficult to recycle therefore, usually, they are not. We have a great range of toothy products from Truthpaste and Georganics in store.
Want to get a uni student something for their new student flat? How about beeswax wraps/pouches? Or a Chilly’s water bottle, your loved one is lucky if they don’t already have one as some beautiful new designs have recently been brought out.
Got any campers in the family? Our Solar Light from SolarAid helps to fight poverty and climate change, as well as increasing access to clean, safe and renewable lighting (rather than using kerosene) in rural Africa. Perfect for camping in the UK and for reading by night. Our bamboo cutlery rolls and coconut bowls also make great additions to camping kits.
If you’re looking to get presents for the next generation of eco-conscious kids, we have great kids’ products in store! Want to teach children about plastic pollution in a fun and easy way? How about getting them ‘Seb and Polly Planet on their Ocean Quest’. This book does the explaining though beautiful and exciting storytelling by the lovely Michelle. Much of it was written in Bristol whilst she now lives in Somerset.
Another fun gift idea is PLAYin CHOC. These vegan, organic chocolates are made from just three natural ingredients: cocoa beans, coconut and vanilla. Inside each chocolate box is a simple to construct toy animal made from recycled card along with interesting facts about the species.
Want to ditch plastic sandwich bags? Our reusable lunch wraps made from recycled plastic bottles are great for their takeaway school lunches and snacks!
Can’t decide what to get? How about a Smaller Footprints voucher and let them choose for themselves?!
